Do you have any unused cans or non perishable items in your cupboard?? We will be collecting items at the Sayre vs Athens Football game TONIGHT!! We can’t wait to see you there!! ❤️

Continuing the tradition, today our seniors wrote letters and presented their jerseys to the teacher that has impacted them the most throughout their years as a student at Sayre. Thank you to Mrs. Wheeler, Mr. Craig, Mr.Kapachuk, Mr. Roy and all the staff who work hard to make a positive impact in the lives of our student athletes and students!

This week the Envirothon Club traveled to Mt. Pisgah to participate in a full day of Soils, Aquatics and Forestry study with the team at Bradford County Conservation District. At soils the students observed 3 soil pits with 3 different types of soils. They learned about erosion, soil permeability and soil types. At aquatics the students used D nets to pull aquatic invertebrates from the stream, and they were shown how the team uses a backpack electrofisher to study the fish population in streams. At Forestry students were taught how to use Biltmore sticks, Prisms and Diameter Tape. They leaned about the types of shade tolerant and intolerant trees and how it affects tree and stand growth. It was a wonderful experience for all the students involved!

At Sayre Area School District, our School Resource Officer (SRO), Dalton Spencer, is all about fostering trust and connection with our students. Since starting as SRO in January 2024, Officer Spencer launched a unique SRO Patch Design Competition to engage our students in a fun, creative way. Inspired by specialty patches like those for bike patrol or K9 units, he wanted a patch that reflects the spirit of our school and the SRO’s role in keeping our community safe. The competition was created to give students a chance to express their creativity while building a stronger bond with Officer Spencer and law enforcement. The response was incredible, with vibrant designs showcasing school pride and unity. The winning patch, now proudly worn on Officer Spencer’s uniform, symbolizes the trust and partnership we’re building together. We’re excited to keep this tradition going! The competition will continue to inspire creativity and strengthen the connection between our students and Officer Spencer. At this year’s Sayre School District Pep Rally at Snyder Elementary, we took it a step further by recognizing one student from each grade who embodied our RISE values—Respect, Integrity, Self-Control, and Empathy. Each of these students received their own personal patch as a tribute to their outstanding character. Thank you to our amazing students for making this initiative so special, and here’s to more creative ways to grow together as a community!

Kids night out! K-6 October 25, 2025

Time change notice: The Varsity Volleyball match scheduled at Athens will occur first tonight. Varsity will start at 6pm, JV will follow.

On Sunday afternoon the Sayre Junior Redskins took on the Athens Wildcats in the Lockhart Street Bowl for a crosstown showdown. Congratulations to the Redskins A Squad for taking the win 21-15 over the Wildcats. From the beginning to the very end each team put everything they had on the field. Razier Vanhousen was a menace, running the ball and making key stops on defense. Attilio Agnellino anchored the offense at quarter back and used his legs to run the ball on numerous occasions. The big guys upfront, Micah Roberts, Parker Mann, Wesley Szollosy and James Henderson anchored the defense stopping the Wildcats from moving the ball and Xander Parrish made some big stops in the secondary for the team. Connor Kmetz played a key role in many critical stops for Redskins on defense and assisted his team making big holes on offense. The redskins recorded 1 interception at the hands of Alex Pelensky during the matchup. On the ground, Jakobi Smith ran the ball for several big plays and Nivek Learn went up and brought down several big passes to move the sticks. Levi Grover and Skilur Baggerly were critical pieces of the offense and causing problems for the Wildcats on defense. Great Job to the coaches Chad Baggerly, Jordan Grover and Jon Roberts for leading this small but mighty team to a successful season. The Redskins were 5-3 on the season going undefeated at home and winning out the back portion of the schedule. During the pregame festivities, the league celebrated the sixth graders from both the football team and cheer squads, along with their escorts.

Yesterday our co-op Jr. High soccer players participated in the yearly 8th grade tournament. This team battled all day against multiple teams from around the area and made it into the finals. The final was hard fought and went into overtime where our team took 2nd place. Congratulations! We are so proud of the hard work, teamwork and determination of this group of athletes and look forward to what they will accomplish in high school soccer.
