Sayre wrestlers participated in a match Tuesday with NEB and Sugar Valley Charter. Bryan Roof went 2-0, Mikyah Brown went 1-1 and Clyde Bleiler and Chaylynn Roloson wrestled hard but came up short of a win, and Lilyonna Isbell wrestled hard in her first ever matches.

Marco Quiros leads the way with a 2nd place finish in the 200 in23.47 at the Bucknell U HS Classic on Sunday! Rose Shikanga added a big PR placing 5th in the 60H in10.28 and even bettered that mark in the trials at 10,19 while adding PR's in the 60-8.79 and the 200-29.92. Marco also ran the 60-7.51 and 400-55.66. Glenn Vanbenthuysen clocked 5:53 in the mile and 2:40.5 in the 800. Brayden Vorhis had a big 3 second PR in the 400 at63.74 while clocking 8.78 in the 60m. Jay Torres continues to improve his hurdle technique running 12.94 -60 H and 60-9.08. If it wasn't for fouls both Emma Cole 21' 2.5" and Hudson Malonski 37' 0.5 would have thrown PR's in the shot. Our final indoor meet is Feb. 22 back at Bucknell as we move quickly into outdoor season after that.

Karli Morgan can be found in the elementary office doing a fantastic job at supporting our Principal Mrs. Murrelle. We asked Mrs. Morgan to tell us a little bit about herself:

“One thing I bet none of the students know is I snowboard but haven't been able to go in a few years.”

We are so grateful to Mrs. Morgan for all she does for our elementary staff and students. She is part of what makes Sayre a great place to work and learn!

Attention baseball players in grades 7-12. Open gym practices will be held every Sunday from 11:30 am-300 pm in the gymnasium of the Junior/Senior High School
Our swimmers did well this past week with Austin Quattrini taking second in the 500 freestyle and 3rd in the 200 freestyle with a time that qualified him for districts. Dom Musick 3rd in the 200 IM and Austin and Dom were part of the 1sr place 200 medley relay. Additionally, Olivia Thompson was a triple winner, winning the 100 backstroke, and was a leg on the winning 200 medley and freestyle relays.
Congratulations to Mikyah also went 2-2 in the UDA Lady Trojan Wrestling Tournament on Sunday.
The lady Redskin Wrestlers had a long weekend of wrestling this weekend. Junior Mikyah Brown reached the podium taking home 5th at the Williamsport Showcase.

The Sayre Area School District will operate on a 2-hour delay, Friday, January 31, 2025, due to the potential of icy road conditions.
We invite to join us as we celebrate the senior members of the girls and boys basketball teams.
Senior night for the Varsity girls will be held on Monday, February 3rd beginning at 6 pm when they host the Lady Panthers from Northeast!
We return to action on Wednesday, February 5th when the Varsity boys host the Indians from Cowanesque game time 7 pm.

Olivia Thompson and her relay team took 1st place in both the 200 yard freestyle relay & the 400 yards freestyle relay. Thompson also took 1sdt place in the 100 yard backstroke.
Austin Quattini placed 3rd in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Dominick Musick took 3rd in the 100 Fly and 4th in the 100 backstroke. Austin and Dom were also members of the 2nd place 200 freestyle relay. Congrats and keep up the good work!
