February 6, 2024 Members of the Sayre School Community, Three years ago, the Support Staff membership authorized the District to begin outsourcing custodial and cafeteria services starting July 1, 2024. In preparation for this potential transition, the District approved a motion for the Administration to solicit Request for Proposals (RFP) for these services at the Board meeting. In the coming weeks, proposals received by the District in response to the RFP will be reviewed, and a final decision whether to outsource will be made by the SASD Board. If the SASD Board members determine that outsourcing is in the best interest of the District, the District will contract with one of the external companies rather than directly employing custodial and cafeteria staff. It is important to note that the District currently outsources technology services (Questeq), management of our cafeterias (Nutrition Group), and our school resource officer (Sayre PD). These outsourcing relationships have been very successful. We want to assure our families that the private businesses providing services within our District must comply with our policies and protocols. Therefore, all individuals that work inside our school buildings, our employees and contracted employees, must have background clearances and safety trainings up to date and on file. We will only consider firms that ensure the safety and well being of our students and staff while providing high-quality custodial and cafeteria services. A study conducted a few years ago found that this transition will save the District a significant amount of money. Therefore, it is fiscally responsible for the Board members to investigate outsourcing. Ultimately, this decision will not be taken lightly, and we know that it will affect a number of our dedicated staff members. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we investigate this option. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your ongoing support of the Sayre Area School District and the students we serve. Respectfully,

The High School Future Teachers Club launched their first ever elementary co-op experience.  Each week a few students will be coming over to teach small group lessons to our elementary students.   This awesome activity helps give our high school students a more in depth look into the world of teaching as well as providing great small group instruction for our elementary kids.  Today was a huge success for both our littlest Redskins to our oldest ones!
