The Sayre Indoor Track team traveled to Clarks Summit University on Friday to compete.
Hunter Kimball continues to drop his 800m time, he is down to 2:45 and his 1600m is down to 5:50. Hunter is currently running as fast as he was for his outdoor season.
Rose Shikanga placed 5th in the 55H running a 10.1 in the finals. Rose also hit a time of 8.8 in the 55m and 32.47 in the 200m.
David Huang was 6th in the shot put at 39' 10".
Linda Zhang ran her first indoor race for the season, she was able to run the 55m in 10.6.
We will be back at CSU on Feb. 9 for our last indoor meet of the season.

Sayre Area School District Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2024 Redman Coaches Wall of Fame nominations.



The life skills classroom celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Connections Cafe' in the Junior/Senior High School. The cafe' will allow a space where ALL students can enjoy food and drinks in a positive environment. Today, students shared their cafe' with parents and community members while serving light refreshments.

Reminder the weight room will be open to any interested High School student/student athlete from 6am-7:15 am and 4:30-6pm Monday through Thursday. It is also open Mon-Thurs from 3:30-4:30 daily for in season athletes.
Please note if the District is closed or operating on a delay due to weather, the weight room will be closed that day.

We welcome students to our new SHS Connections Cafe! We will be located in Room 21 on the ground floor. 9th-12th grade students will be able to visit Connections Cafe during study halls and resource periods to purchase coffees, drinks, and snacks. In the upcoming weeks we hope to open more periods and be open during WIN for 7th & 8th grade. We will share more information via email and through daily announcements! See everyone at the cafe!

The Sayre Indoor Track Team once again traveled to Susquehanna University for the River Hawk Invite and has continued showing improvement in several events!
The distance crew started the day off strong. Hunter Kimball dropped 9 seconds off his previous time in the mile, bringing his time to a 6:02! He was also 1 second faster than his previous time in the 800 bringing his new pace to 2:46. Glen Vanbenthuysen dropped 3 seconds off his previous time in the mile bringing his new time to 5:39 and shaved 11 seconds off his previous run in the 800 to 2:34, both are at their all time best.
David Huang was the top place winner placing 9th in the shot at 40' 10" , his top Pr for indoors.
Rose Shikanga finished up the day with a 13th place finish in the 60H with a yearly Pr of 10.73, then got a 30.46 in the 200. We have expanded her events to include the HJ this season for indoor, she was able to clear 4’ and just missed 4' 2".
Marco Quiros ran the 60m in 7.68 placing 43rd out of 114.
We will be back in action Friday night at Clark Summit University for the first of their 2 invites.

The Sayre Rec Cheerleaders have their first competition this Sunday in Elmira at The Murray Athletic Center (170 Huck Finn Rd, Horseheads, NY) and they would LOVE your support!
Entry into the competition is $10 per spectator.
Blue (1st-4th grade) will compete at 11:10am and
Red (5th-7th grade) will compete at 11:55am.


Boys Varsity Basketball won 55-24 against Montgomery on Monday night. Nic Pellicano led the way scoring 21 for the Redskins with Mikey Griffin adding 11 and Karter Green adding 7.


Due to the timing of and ice predicted in the weather today, Sayre Area School District will be utilizing a Flexible Instructional Day Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
