Press Release from Alloy5, the Lead Company in conducting the Merger Feasibility Study for Athens Area SD and Sayre Area SD
April 10, 2024
The study explores the potential of a merger of the two districts and the creation of a new school district. Delivery of the final study does not mean a merger is inevitable. Information in the study will guide the decision-making of both boards as they discuss whether it is in the best interest of students and taxpayers to create one new school district.
The study report is a nearly 300-page document providing a comprehensive look at demographics and enrollment data, instructional programs, facilities, transportation, personnel, governance, finances, and building scenarios.
Throughout the study process, Athens and Sayre have worked in close partnership with one another and the design team. We emphasize that we have neither rushed the process nor set restrictive deadlines. Our priority remains the assurance of a thorough and well-considered study for the benefit of all involved parties.
This update is provided to our school communities as part of our united commitment to keep Athens and Sayre informed throughout the process. We look forward to a presentation of the full study to both school boards in the spring.
