To start our month of awareness and acceptance, we have created an Autism Awareness/Acceptance Spirit week. This week would be a great opportunity to teach different ways we can practice acceptance/differences/ and kindness. This month does not need to just be about Autism, it can be used to show how we all learn and grow in different ways. 🔴 3/31 - Magnificent Mind Monday - Celebrate how amazing it is that all of our minds work in different, wonderful ways by standing out with a different hairstyle. Wear your wildest/crazy hair. 🟡 4/1 - Neurodiversity Tuesday - Celebrate the beauty in the diverse spectrum of the human mind by wearing tie-dye or rainbow colors 🔵 4/2 - Light it Up Blue Day - Today is Autism Awareness Day! Wear blue to show support. 🟢 4/3 - Passion Thursday - One characteristic of some people with autism is to show incredibly focused passion for topics of interest. Dress to show your favorite hobby or activity. 🟣 4/4 - Sensory Friendly Friday - People with autism have a variety of sensory sensitivities. Dress up today in your comfiest clothes/PJs.

The students of the Connections Cafe have had a busy and impactful school year! Recently, they hosted a Sayre Rotary lunch, catered desserts for the SHS blood drive, and even led a county tour for the BLaST BRIDGE program. 🌟 This is in addition to the daily operations of running the cafe! Huge shoutout to the amazing staff and students who help keep everything running smoothly. Your hard work and dedication make us so proud! 🙌 #ConnectionsCafe #StudentLeaders #CommunitySupport

We continue to get to know our staff in 2025 by getting to know our secretary to the high school principal and the athletic director, Mrs. Karissa Laughlin. We asked her to tell us a little about herself:
“Some of my favorite hobbies are attending my kids sporting events and relaxing outside with a book.”
“Something my students might not know about me is that I have 2 children, ages 11 and 10 years old.”
“I chose to work at the high school because I've dreamed of working in a school setting. Previously I attended college to become an elementary teacher, but switched majors.”
“My favorite thing about SASD is that I love, love, love the small community where everybody is somebody. Sayre is a district where good manners and big hearts go hand in hand which makes it an honor to call myself part of the Sayre family.”
We are so thankful for Mrs. Laughlin and the many hats she wears for our school. She is a valued member of the Sayre family and we are happy she can testify to the culture we have worked hard to create as the little school with the big heart.
Thank you Mrs. Laughlin.

The second graders enjoyed a beautiful morning at Fay’s Maple Farm where they learned about the maple syrup making process and enjoyed a delicious pancake breakfast!
