Educational Technology at Snyder

Sayre's Snyder Elementary School leverages technology in the classroom to make learning more successful by making learning more interactive and fun! The following pictures and comments illustrate how Snyder teachers are making teaching and technology work together!

It makes teaching and learning so much fun!

We use our tablet to go over reading overheads which I have converted  to PowerPoint presentations.
We also use it with United Streaming - Miss Merrill
I like being able to see what is on Miss Merrill’s computer screen. – Dannie Button

Miss Grego's 1st Grade Class
Wacthing a science video.
We are using new hardware to reinforce and introduce phonics concepts.
We are finding interactive web sites that help to review new concepts in reading and phonics.
We are also using united streaming to reinforce science lessons.
If we read a non fiction story I look for video clips to go with it.

United Streaming really helps to supplement all of the subjects, especially social studies and science.
With Saxon Math on cd Rom, I can easily display difficult problems from the book on the screen for the class
Mr. DeHann teaching divison.

Also, I have found that putting questions from Study Island on the screen to read together is very useful in PSSA preparation.

The smart tablet monitor/projector is far beyond the old overhead projector I barely have to use now.

Mrs. Munn's 4th Grade Math Class
Mrs. Munn's class doing comparing.
We like the numonics tablet and big because we can watch our lessons being taught to us on a big screen.
We use it for united streaming, watching videos, and doing our lessons on it.

The students get to participate as a group with a visual enhancement.  We really enjoy using our new technology!

More Teacher and Student Feedback

I am extremely pleased with the new technology in my room.  I use it every single day for geography.  The system really works well for STUDY ISLAND. With the way I have it working, I have a very good grasp on the strengths and weaknesses of each student.  I also use it for math lessons and PSSA review questions. I know I have to spend more time just sitting and playing around/experimenting with all the facets….just haven’t had time.   Thanks, Vickie Hall  - 6th grade ( Teacher)

Thought you’d like to know that the students are using the screens for their Language Arts Presentations, mainly to show pictures of their topic or a powerpoint. It has been awesome! Denise Quinn 6th grade( Teacher)

The numonic tablet has allowed me the ability to increase the amount of time the Learning Support students remain focused to lessons I present on the large screen.  Whether I am teaching reading vocabulary, math, or language arts they are very attentive.  Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to teach our digital natives!   Linda Campbell ( Teacher)

I like using the projector and screen because it is fun. - Sam Wheeler ( Student)

I like watching videos on it, and Miss Merrill likes it. I also like when we are going over vocabulary words and we don’t know what a word is we can pull up a picture of it so we can see it. – Harliegh Stumph ( Student)

It’s fun because we don’t have to write and we can watch movies on it. – Kiersten Swanson( Student)

I like learning on it because it is fun, and can you show more things on it then what is on the overheads.  You can learn a lot more by using it. – Lucas Friedrichsen ( Student)

I like it because it’s bigger then the overhead and easier to see. – Blair Wampole ( Student)

I like when we can come up to the screen and use the pen on the screen. – Emily Birney ( Student)

It’s fun to do stuff on it because it makes learning fun. – Aden Bydairk( Student)

It’s easier to pay attention when we use the screen and projector. – Makayla Mullen ( Student)

I like watching the videos that go along with what we are learning.  – Cassie Maio ( Student)
