The Sayre Area High School FBLA Chapter recently attended the 2008 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, March 30, 2008 through April 2, 2008. While there, the Sayre HS FBLA Chapter received many individual and state awards, the most in the SHS Chapter’s history.

The team of Courtney Harmon and Elizabeth Crews placed 8th in the Community Service Project. Their Community Service Project report stemmed from the Sayre HS Activity Night that was held to benefit the 2007-08 PA FBLA State Project, the American Trauma Society, PA Division. |

Luke Skerpon finished his 2007-2008 term as the Pennsylvania FBLA State President as was recognized at the Executive Committee/Board of Directors recognition dinner.
- Luke Skerpon placed 2nd in the State for individual community service hours donated through the Big 33 Community Service Project

Luke presided over the state conference and general sessions. During the Awards of Excellence Program Luke had the opportunity to give the State President’s Farewell speech in which he thanked: PA FBLA Board of Directors/Executive Committee Advisers, State Management Team, Mrs. Janet Skiles, Mr. Bruce Boncal, Sayre HS FBLA, SASD Faculty/Staff/Administration, Ms. Michelle Jennings, 2006-2007 PA FBLA State Officer Team, 2007-2008 State Officer Team, Mrs. Laura Gavio-Barletta, Mrs. Renee Hughes, Miss Kristi Ryland, his parents Robbin & Donnie Skerpon, and his adviser Mr. Derek Selleck.

Luke Skerpon placed 1st in the Mr. Future Business Leader competitive event, and also placed 1st in Who’s Who in Pennsylvania FBLA. By placing 1st, Luke also received the top William Selden Scholarship in the amount of $1500.00.
