Current Scholarships

*Students should check the Scholarship Folder in the Guidance office on a regular basis.  All mailings regarding scholarships are placed in this folder.

-- The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards- www.prudential.com/spirit  Deadline Oct. 31, 2008

-- 12th annual Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Award program.  The SAMMY Awards reward students athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, community service, leadership and include milk as part of their healthy lifestyles.  Applications and official rules are available online at www.sammy.bodybymilk.com until March 6, 2009

-- Cargill Community Scholarship Program- Cargill will award $1000 scholarships to 350 seniors living near Cargill communities nationwide and provide $200 to each student’s school library.  Scholarship application and guidelines are online at www.cargill.com, keyword scholarship.  Applications are due Feb. 15th

-- Guthrie’s 35th Annual Health Professions Scholarship Program and Guthrie Employee Scholarship

 Criteria for Health Professions Scholarships (9 awarded- one scholarship will be given to a student from Athens, Sayre, or Waverly):

High school seniors who plan to enter, in the summer or fall of 2009, an accredited college, university, hospital-based nursing or allied health program, with careers in health professions, including hospital administration or a planned career in medical research. 

Criteria for Guthrie Employee Scholarships (4 awarded):  These scholarships are offered to high school seniors who are the children of Guthrie employees (Children of physicians and dentists affiliated with Guthrie are NOT eligible for any of these scholarships), and who plan to enroll in an accredited junior college, college or university in the summer or fall of 2009.  Any career interest is allowed.  These students can apply simultaneously for the Guthrie Health Professions Scholarship if the criteria for that scholarship are met.

Value of Each scholarship: $650 per year or $2600 over four years for undergraduate studies.

Applications and all required materials are due to the  Guthrie Clinic by FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2009!

2009 Scholarship Program

Eligibility

Graduating Seniors furthering their education in the hospitality industry who have been accepted in a Hospitality/Culinary Arts program in an accredited post-secondary institution

Students currently enrolled in an accredited Hospitality Culinary Arts program in an accredited post-secondary institution

Student must be a PA resident

Application materials are available on the PA Restaurant Association website at www.parestaurant.org   Visit the “ServSafe & Industry Education” tab and select PRA Scholarship Program for program details and a downloadable application form

Applications are also available in the Guidance Office

Application Deadline
